COOMBABAH SUBURB INFORMATION
Coombabah is a northern suburb of the Gold Coast that is located 15 minutes north-west of Surfers Paradise. It is a family-friendly suburb and is also a sanctuary for retirees away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city. It is a quiet suburb, though it is still close to entertainment centres. A new development in the area, Harbour Quays, has been designed to allow people to take full advantage of the opportunity to live on the water. Coombabah borders the Coomera River and the tidal wetlands known as Coombabah Lakes Nature Reserve. The area is popular among locals for fishing and boating.
Coombabah is made up mainly of residential townhouses and duplexes. There are a number of housing estates comprising two and three-bedroom duplexes with shared facilities such as swimming pool and tennis court. While there are many dry lots in Coombabah, lake and riverfront homes exist though land is virtually unavailable.
There are a number of shopping centres within easy reach of Coombabah. The biggest by far is Harbour Town Shopping Centre, a haven of outlet stores offering brand names at a discounted price. Runaway Bay Shopping Village is also close by and is frequented by locals. It has a number of specialty stores as well as Target, Woolworths and Big W. A number of restaurants, cafes and food outlets line Oxley Drive.
Coombabah primary and high schools, AB Paterson College (preparatory-year 12) and St Francis Xavier (primary).
Hammond Village-244 residences, Settlers Village-144 homes, Emerald gardens-219 villas.
