Heating Your Outdoor Space

In Australia we love our outdoor spaces, and in Queensland especially we can utilise this space the majority of the year, thanks to that gorgeous sunshine. However, there are those couple of months in the year where even us Queenslanders don’t venture outside when the sun goes down. If you’re itching to spend more time outside despite the winter chill, incorporating heat sources is a great place to start.

Add some spark with a Fireplace/Firepit/Chimenea

Being both aesthetically pleasing and a great heat source, an outdoor fireplace will not only bring fun and valuable memories to you and your family, it will also keep everyone snug in the winter months. A firepit or chimenea are equally aesthetic, and the best part? You can either buy one from your local hardware store, or make a weekend out of it by building one yourself!

Add a roof cover

If you have a pergola adding a proper roof cover can provide some sense of warmth. It separates you from the backyard and creates a comfortable area in any weather condition, giving the impression of another room in your house. You can also add insulation to your pergola roof. Insulated patio covers have the ability of retaining the temperature of the space, so the heat from those fire elements won’t go to waste.

Invest in a patio heater

If you want a quick heat fix for your outdoor space invest in a good patio heater. These are easy to assemble, easy to use and easy to move around. You can buy a smaller table heater or opt for a floor heater, or even a heater that can be installed in the patio roof – either way, you’ll be kept cosy and warm, without as much hassle.

Keep the heat in

Your outdoor blinds and awnings are not only there to keep the sun out in summer – these sun blockers are also great to utilise in winter. They help to block out the cold wind, and they’ll also stop any heat from escaping – they also enhance the ‘extra room’ feeling! If you don’t already have outdoor blinds, consider what would work best for your space.

Keep it cosy

Blankets and cosy cushions will not only provide physical warmth when you’re spending time on your outdoor patio, the warm décor will make you feel snug just looking at it – if your space looks cosy, it will feel cosy.

Don’t let your valuable space sit idle in those cooler months. Make the most of your outdoor design and enjoy the area all year round, in comfort (and warmth).
